Ukraine has accused Russia of “spitting in the face” of the UN and Turkey with its attack on Odessa, a day after the pact was signed to exploit Ukrainian grain.

Ukraine’s government has accused Russia of “spitting in the face” of the UN and Turkey with the attack launched this Saturday against the commercial port of Odessaan important point for grain exports according to the agreement reached this Friday in Istanbul between Kiev and Moscow.
According to a spokesman for Ukraine’s foreign ministry, Russia must take “full responsibility” if that agreement is broken; with the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterresand the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoganas supervisors.
The Ukrainian authorities had previously reported that Russian attack on the commercial port of Odessaan important point for grain exports through the Black Sea.
“The enemy attacked the commercial seaport with Kalibr-class cruise missiles. Two missiles were shot down by the Ukrainian defenses, while two hit the infrastructure of the port,” Ukrainian sources from Odessa reported.
In that first communication it was already reminded of the key role of that port for the export of grains, as well as the agreement reached with Russia on this matter in Istanbul on Friday. Sponsored by Turkey and the United Nations, it is considering a maritime corridor to alleviate the food crisis caused by the Russian blockade of Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea.
Specifically, it will enable cargo ships to export about 22 million tons of wheat, maize and other grains stored in silos from three Ukrainian ports – Odessa, along with Pivdennyi and Chornomorsk.
