Her trip with three friends ended Friday afternoon with serious injuries for a woman from Vienna near Kalwang in the Styrian district of Leoben. The four women had gone out to pick mushrooms and were looking for mushrooms at the Zeiritzkampel when the 78-year-old suddenly lost her balance.
The accident happened about 300 meters below the Achneralm when the 78-year-old suddenly fell and was seriously injured. “The woman complained of severe pain,” police said on Saturday. But there was no cell phone reception on site to initiate the rescue chain. For this reason, one of her friends (65) went to the valley to get help.
Mautern’s mountain rescue team then climbed up to the injured person and took over care, and the rescue helicopter was also alerted. The 78-year-old was then taken to the landing site by stretcher and flown to the UKH in Kalwang.
