Seven-month-old boy needs a stem cell donation to live. The association “Give for Life” has now organized two campaigns for the brave warrior. And the “Krone” did the self-test to take home.
The fate of little Elias touches the whole country. As reported, the seven-month-old baby was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. Elias needs an appropriate stem cell donation to survive and has already had two chemoblocks.
“He has done surprisingly well with the second so far. The first time the side effects started after a week. This time it was five times the dose, but it holds up well,” Mama Melina said in an interview with “Krone.” , who never leaves her little darling. “We have now been in hospital for more than 50 days, we were only allowed to stay at home for a day and a half,” says the 26-year-old.
And there are still countless treatments waiting for the little man. First he gets the third and fourth chemoblock in Linz and then he goes to the St. Anna Children’s Hospital in Vienna. Until then, it is hoped to find a suitable stem cell donor. The “Give for Life” association has set up two typing campaigns for Elias. The first will take place on August 20 in Neuhofen an der Krems from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the local fire brigade.
The second – organized together with BMW Steyr – is on September 4 in Steyr. “Many potential donors write to me. We receive hugs and gifts. Mothers or families write who are or were in similar situations,” Melina, who documents the fate of her family on Instagram (confident.housewife), takes a lot of strength from news.
And if you can’t make it to the typing campaigns, you can just take the test at home. Sign up on the “Give for Life” homepage, a few days later the test set will be in the mailbox: take a cheek swab and send it back! The “Krone” has tried (see above). Conclusion: Helping is rarely easier.
