According to the balance sheet of Pir Hossein Kolivand, head of the Red Crescent, 20 provinces, 111 cities, more than 500 villages and 29 transport routes have been affected by the floods. Supreme Leader Ayatollah, Ali Khamenei, expressed his condolences to the families affected and asked the authorities to take the necessary steps to repair the damage. Kolivand explained that a large number of people have been transferred to safe areas and provided with emergency shelter in Red Crescent tents, as well as food and other supplies.

Despite the devastation, the worst doesn’t seem over yet. Iran’s Meteorological Service has issued a red level alarm for this Sunday and tomorrow in the south and east of the country, so the heartbreaking number of dead and missing could soar. The weather situation in the country, Nami said, remains dangerous. “We saw that in Qom province nobody expected such rain, but the intensity was very high and even caused the evacuation of two villages and their emergency shelters,” said the Iranian deputy minister, who took the opportunity to mourn the fatalities. of the temporary. “Unfortunately, we have seen several of our loved ones across the country lost their lives because they got in the way of the rivers.”

The goal is therefore to “save lives”, according to the head of the crisis management organization. How? “We need to pay attention to all areas that could be targeted by moisture and cloud masses, but people should be careful not to get in the path of the river and avoid being in unstable environments.” In that sense, he asked citizens “not to travel at all, as there is no warning of the flood and it will likely be on a route that does not give the opportunity to leave the area,” he stressed.

The deputy minister also assured that the level of preparation of the Iranian air fleet in the face of the meteorological crisis is “ready”. “We are deploying 19 Red Crescent Helicopters and providing assistance. We are strong. We have not yet used the strength of the armed forces in the latest floods, and there are many non-governmental organizations and networks ready to help,” Nami said. The rescue of 3,000 people from the Red Crescent has been confirmed.
