Criminal professionals must have been at work there: countless high-quality bicycles worth several hundred thousand euros were stolen from a specialist shop in the Tyrolean town of Bichlbach (Reutte district) on Friday evening. The National Criminal Investigation Department is investigating – so far there is no trace of the perpetrators.
The perpetrators would have struck in the middle of the night, probably around 1.30 am. “On the basis of previous investigations, it can be assumed that the perpetrators are a professional group that may have specialized in burglaries in bicycle shops,” says the Tiroler Staatsrecherche.
Detectives speak of a “large number” of stolen bicycles. The amount of damage is a “medium, six-digit euro amount”.
Taken away in a small truck?
The criminals assume that the bicycles were taken away in a pick-up truck with a tarpaulin construction and foreign number plates. Now they hope for possible eyewitnesses.
