On the first day of the new Corona rules, mask wearers were sometimes looked at skewed – apparently there was great mistrust!
Day one of the new freedom: The corona quarantine has been abolished, for infected people without symptoms of disease only so-called traffic restrictions apply. And for the most part, only those affected are required to wear FFP2 masks. But that was also felt by the cautious people who still voluntarily wear face masks in public.
“I was really harassed by other customers, whether I was perhaps positive,” reports a “Krone” reader about her shopping in a supermarket in the Lower Austrian capital of St. Pölten. And a train commuter from the Amstetten district describes after the trip to the capital: “You get crooked looks when you are in the train with a mouth cap.”
A look at the number of cases, however, paints a skewed picture. Because compliance with the new rules is no longer monitored, fewer and fewer people voluntarily undergo a PCR test. In Lower Austria alone, 1,009 positive corona checks were reported on Monday – significantly fewer than in previous weeks.
However, the flattening of the infection curve is not solely due to the reduced test readiness. “Even the wastewater analysis shows a decrease,” says the municipality.
