The State official newsletter (BOE) has published a Royal Decree detailing the energy-saving and efficiency measures approved by the government of Spain, including the obliged in public buildings, commercial spaces and department stores, transport infrastructure, cultural spaces and hotels to limit the use of air conditioning to 27 degrees in summer and heating to 19 degrees in winter.
– Control of heating and air conditioning in public buildings: maximum 19 C in winter and minimum 27 ºC in summer.
– From 22:00, turn off the lights in shop windows and in public buildings that are not in use.

– Keep the doors of buildings and facilities closed when the air or heating is on.

– Carry out an extraordinary assessment of the boilers and thermal installations provided that the last assessment was before January 2021.

– Free Renfe suburban and medium-distance trains and 50% discount on the price of tickets for Avant services. The subsidy is in effect between September 1 and December 31 and users must pay a deposit of 10 to 20 euros when purchasing the subscription, depending on the service, which will be refunded if there is a total of 16 trips (four per month) in the validity period of four months.

In September, a calamity and energy saving plan will be presented with new measures. These are articulated on the regulation of thermal building installations and the lighting code, the supervision of which corresponds to the autonomous communities, which have a sanction regime in case of non-compliance.
