A mountaineer and a mountaineer from Poland suffered an alpine emergency on the East Tyrolean side of the Großglockner on Saturday. According to the police, they were surprised by the bad weather at about 3,600 meters above sea level. For this reason, the two 41-year-olds could not be rescued with the police helicopter for the time being. This only worked later on the second attempt.
The woman and the man wanted to climb the mountain via the southern ridge of Kals am Großglockner. Around noon they could no longer go back and forth due to a sudden change in the weather and they made an emergency call. The rescue with the police helicopter had to be canceled due to bad weather, so four troops of the Kals mountain rescue service were flown to the so-called Kampele.

They then performed a terrestrial rescue. With a short weather window, the mountaineers were rescued unharmed by helicopter.
