On Tuesday morning, employees of a municipal company found a large throwing grenade, two practice grenades for anti-tank tubes and a 7.5 centimeter cartridge in the basement of a house in the center of Linz. There was a wide roadblock.
Because it could not be ruled out that explosives were still involved, everyone was removed from the house and the road between Volksgarten and Schillerpark was closed.
The army’s mine clearance service has secured and removed the objects. It turned out that the grenades were no longer sharp, so there was no immediate danger. After about an hour, all locks were lifted.
