According to Siemens Energy, the turbine for the Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream 1 is still sealed and ready for use in Mülheim an der Ruhr. But there is no movement in sight, says a company spokesman in Munich.
According to the information provided, the turbine must be transported by truck – so the current problems of inland waterway transport with low water levels also played no role. The device has been serviced in Canada, but has now been in Germany since mid-July.
Russian energy company Gazprom has been cutting off its gas supplies through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline since June, citing the lack of a turbine that, along with others, creates the pressure to pump the gas. Gazprom criticizes the lack of information about the repair, Siemens Energy rejects these allegations.
German chancellor sees Russia next
During a visit to Mülheim two weeks ago, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Russia was using pretexts to restrict gas supplies in violation of the contract. The turbine can be used at any time and can be delivered: “It is clear that nothing, absolutely nothing, stands in the way of further transport of this turbine and its installation in Russia.”
