The indicator has been showing gains for 16 months, although it moderated its year-over-year improvement rate compared to May data
The energy crisis, the lack of supplies, inflation… Spanish companies do not seem to be avoiding the avalanche of economic fronts that have accelerated since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. At least when it comes to sales. According to data published Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), corporate revenues increased by 29.9% in June compared to the same period in 2021.
This Index of Business Business Figures (ICNE) has been adding 16 consecutive months of gains. But June’s growth has moderated by nearly 3.8 points from May’s 33.6% year-on-year increase.
According to the INE statistics, all sectors showed positive full-year figures, with the energy and water segment leading the way, increasing sales by 90%, followed by manufacturing with sales up 31.7% year-over-year. For their part, services and trade sold 27.5% and 21.4% respectively more than in June 2021.
Adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, corporate revenue growth was 30.5% in June, still one point lower than in May.
When the data is analyzed for monthly values and within the adjusted ranges, companies increased their sales by 1.5% in June, four tenths more than in May. In this case, it was the industry that showed the most momentum, with sales up 2.2% in the month, followed by energy and water (+2%) and services, which sold 1.6% more than in May.
The negative part of this analysis came from the trade sector, which decreased its turnover by 2.1% in June compared to the previous month.
