Actually only planned for October, the newly introduced climate bonus and the one-off anti-inflation premium will be paid earlier. The Chancellery announced on Wednesday that it should already be in September. About 300,000 people would receive the money in August. An application is still not necessary.
The letters will be sent, the payment of a €250 climate bonus and an anti-inflation bonus of €250 to all Austrians will begin on September 1, and you will receive an additional €250 per child, according to a broadcast on Wednesday.
According to the Federal Chancellery, from Thursday 300,000 randomly selected people will receive the 500 euros – to carry out a system check beforehand.
Automatically on the account or with a voucher
An application is not necessary, the money will be transferred automatically when you have deposited your account number on Finanzonline. Retirees also get the money from their pension insurance in their accounts.
Everyone else will receive the grant as a voucher by post and can collect it in cash at a Bank99 branch of the post office or redeem it at a partner company (overview: sodexo.at).
Nehammer: ‘If you help quickly, you help twice’
The federal government never gets tired of emphasizing that it wants to support citizens in the crisis. Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) is happy to say that they have been working on it “under high pressure”, which means that the bonus can now be paid out earlier. Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens) was also pleased that “the money is coming in even faster”.
Electricity price brake in the last few trains
The timetable for a ceiling on rail electricity bills should also be available in August, as the Department of Energy recently explained. However, there were still many question marks over WIFO boss Gabriel Felbermayr’s original proposal, which provides for a state subsidy for household electricity bills. Due to the “complexity” of the process, Gewessler announced on Tuesday that there should probably be no social wavering from the measure.
However, not everyone shares the joy of the one-time compensation. Critics especially miss a long-term strategy – the measures that have been taken now are just a drop in the ocean, as inflation has risen to record levels and the end of price increases in the energy sector is still not in sight.
