The price of fuel will be the highest in history on Easter Day, despite the 20-cent premium per liter that went into effect on April 1st for all consumers.
The average price of a liter of gasoline and diesel this week has already fixed this discount and dropped to 11.27%, although it remains at a level never seen for this holiday, which becomes the first big “Macro Bridge” of the year.
In particular, the average price of a liter of gasoline fell by 11.27% compared to last week and amounted to 1,613 euros, which is the lowest level since the end of February, according to the EU Oil Bulletin collected by Europe Press.
In the case of diesel, which combines Sorpaso, in which gasoline played last week, for the first time since December 2011 exceeded its price, the drop is 10.34% compared to the previous seven days, and will return to 1647 euros per liter. At the beginning of March.
Thus, in both cases, a 20-cent discount on fuel is consolidated in prices – of which the state provides 15 cents and large oil companies at least 5 cents – a measure that will in principle take effect. By the next 30 June and which the government has adopted as part of a plan of emergency measures to alleviate the consequences of the war in Ukraine.
In any case, this break, in the form of aid, in fuel prices, which represents a reduction of almost 11 euros for filling the tank, will not prevent it from being the most expensive Holy Week for drivers in history, it also coincides with this. Will be the first from 2019 with mobility due to Covid-19 without restrictions.
Thus, two years later, when travel was caused by a pandemic, from April 8 to 18, the country is expected to have 14.6 million long-distance travel, 2.10% less than in 2019 Santa’s Week, according to general data. Traffic Directorate (DGT).
The average price of gasoline and diesel for these dates will be 22.2% and 38.4% more expensive, respectively, than Easter 2021 and also 22.2% and 33.9%, respectively, than in 2019, which was the last year without travel restrictions. .
Thus, filling a 55-liter gas tank now costs about 88.71 euros, which is about 16.11 euros more than last year and at the 2019 resurrection.
When it comes to refueling with diesel, filling a 55-liter tank is about 90.58 euros, about 25.13 euros more for Easter 2021 and about 22.93 euros more than in 2019.
In the footsteps of the oil price
The rise in fuel prices, especially in the last month and a half, was observed against the background of rising prices for Brent barrels, which rose to $ 131 after the start of the war in Ukraine. On Thursday, it traded above $ 101. In the case of American Texas, the barrel traded for almost $ 96.5.
The price of a fuel depends on many factors such as its specific price (independent of the price of oil), the evolution of crude oil, taxes, the cost of raw materials and logistics, and the total margin.
Thus, the evolution of crude oil prices does not move directly to gasoline prices, but over time.
Despite this level, the price of unspecified gasoline in 95 Spain is lower than the EU average, which stands at 1,855 euros per liter, and in the eurozone, the average price is 1,918 euros. A similar thing happens in the case of diesel, since the price in the EU is 1861 euros, and in the eurozone 1891 euros.
The low level of final prices in relation to neighboring countries is due to the fact that Spain, despite VAT, high taxes on biodiesel and taxes, continues to have generally low fiscal pressures on the public average.
