Fight against inflation – Kocher: 300 euro bonus for job seekers

Date:

As an immediate measure, as part of the federal government’s anti-inflation package, anyone registered as unemployed in Austria will receive a one-time bonus of 300 euros. This was announced by Labor Minister Martin Kocher (ÖVP) on Wednesday.

Given the persistent inflation, the federal government decided in June on an anti-inflation package with a total volume of 28 billion euros. Part of the immediate measures is a one-off benefit of 300 euros, which will be paid to everyone registered as unemployed in Austria.

Payment starts early September
Kocher: “The aim of the measure is to provide extra support and help to this group of people who are confronted with special financial problems due to inflation.”

Those are the criteria
“The current price increases hit people who are looking for work and therefore have a low income, especially hard. That is why we as the federal government have campaigned to get all those people who received unemployment benefits or emergency aid for at least 31 days in May and June a one-off payment of 300 euros as a support benefit. Individuals who are registered as unemployed with the AMS will automatically receive the lump sum payment on their account when the unemployment benefit is paid out without having to apply for it, or – if there is no account or if you wish — by mail,” says Kocher.

Sick recipients who were previously unemployed and who have received sickness benefits for 31 days after the AMS benefit are also entitled to an application. As before, people who receive sick pay will receive the 300 euros from the health insurer.
