There may be a pilot strike at Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings. In a vote by the German trade union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC), a 97.7 percent majority favored union action, a VC spokesman told Reuters news agency on Wednesday.
“This is a signal that staff are ready to take industrial action for better working conditions,” he added. First, however, a new collective labor agreement will be negotiated with the employer.
The pilots complain about the high workload because the staffing level is too thin for the sharp increase in air traffic. Eurowings recently stated that it would examine the VC’s proposals.
Eurowings is convinced it will find a solution without a strike. According to the airline, further dates have been agreed for the negotiations, which have only started since July.
