After tug-of-war – Gmundner Molkerei says yes to “milk marriage”

Date:

It was a month-long tug-of-war, with SalzburgMilch taking the lead – and now a dairy from Germany won the race! As of today, September 6, it is clear that the Gmundner Molkerei is going into the future together with the Milchwerk Jäger. A joint venture is being set up for this purpose.

“We do not want and will not continue to talk about unlaid eggs,” said Johannes Trinkfass, chairman of the Gmundner dairy, after the general meeting in which the Upper Austrians voted on their future. And this now has clear pillars: together with the Milchwerk Jäger from Germany, a company is founded in which both milk processing companies are merged.

In the future, 800 million liters of raw milk will be processed at the locations in Upper Austria and Bavaria. 800 employees are also part of the “milk marriage”, as well as 3000 dairy farms. Fix: At the end of 2024, another 15 million euros will be invested in Gmunden to also expand processing in the city of Traunsee. More details will not be disclosed until the competition authority has given the green light.
