The rise in food prices has become one of the biggest problems for families trying to adjust their budgets to the new inflation scenario. According to a survey published on Thursday by the company Dynata, 60% of Spaniards say they already have problems paying the basic shopping cart. The data is 7% higher than the overall average of the worldwide survey. And more worryingly, we are the most pessimistic economy going forward, with 36% drawing a worse scenario than the current one, only behind 49% in the UK.

To combat this situation, citizens have begun to vary their consumption habits by reducing their spending, a behavior the company has observed more among older generations than young people, who continue to prioritize paying a little more for high-quality food products.

The survey also shows how 31% of Spaniards don’t even make ends meet. And the majority of those polled are also very critical of the solutions proposed by their political leaders. This is the point at which negotiations will resume in the coming days with Vice President Yolanda Díaz and Consumer Affairs Minister Alberto Garzón seeking the formula to offer a basic shopping basket with frozen prices. after Christmas.
