After the crisis year 2020, the Rankweil fruit juice manufacturer Rauch is back on the road to success: a turnover increase of almost 20 percent to 1.15 billion euros and the commissioning of a new factory in the US mean that CEO Jürgen Rauch can count on the future with optimism towards. The war in Ukraine, on the other hand, is a cause for concern.
“We are on the right track,” says CEO Jürgen Rauch, given the fruit juice company’s performance over the past year. The figures speak for themselves: an increase in turnover from 185 million to a total of 1.15 billion euros. Compared to 2020, this is an increase of 19.5%. The share that the fruit juice and tea specialists have brought in internationally is now over 70 percent.
New factory planned in the US
Rauch’s plans are also international: there will be a state-of-the-art drinks factory in Concord, North Carolina (USA) together with Red Bull and Ball Packaging. Rauch has been operating a facility in Glendale, Arizona since the fall of 2020. It is currently “fully on track for growth and expansion”. But growth is also announced in the domestic market: the fruit juice segment grew by 1.6 percent in 2021 in the food trade in Austria. Rauch, however, grew significantly more at 7.2 percent, the company now has a market share of around 33 percent. In the second important market, tea drinks, Rauch was able to grow as much as 14 percent and now has a market share of more than 60 percent.
Rauch, on the other hand, has to take into account difficulties related to the war in Ukraine, since the company has partner companies there. “The consequences of the war will be serious. Many raw materials, energy and food are becoming scarce and therefore more expensive,” says Rauch.
