The youth rental bonus is again financed with 200 million euros, the same amount as this year
The housing policy will receive an allocation of 992 million euros in 2023, 23% more than the 806 million this year. And that without taking into account the amount from the European Union (EU) clawback mechanism, which amounts to 2,480 million, representing a total resource of 3,472 million euros, 5.4% more than in the 2022 budgets.
According to the accounts presented this Thursday by the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, in the project General Budget for 2023, the item receiving the most funds is the construction of social rental housing in energy-efficient buildings, endowed with 1,600 million euros. In addition, subsidies for housing plans will receive 359 million, 14 more than in 2022.
Housing policy has been the subject of discussion in recent days through negotiations between government partners. According to the Minister of Finance, these budgets could not contain a new Housing Act, while last year’s law is still under parliamentary consideration. It includes the Youth Rental Voucher, a plan for people between the ages of 18 and 35 who are allocated €200 million per year to receive €250 million in aid per month for two years. Applicants must demonstrate an income from work and an annual income of less than three times the Public Income Indicator (Iprem), which will be 600 euros in 2023.
During the press conference, Montero acknowledged that housing is still a “red line” and demanded that the autonomous communities make these funds available to young people “as soon as possible” after some have not yet opened the call for applying for this young bonus by 2022. .
As far as housing tax credits are concerned, the deduction for investments in main residence falls by 11.5% to a cost to the State of 754 million euros due to the gradual decrease since 2013, the year until this transitional regime is maintained.
