The novella for the Electricity Economics Act is currently negotiated by the Triple Coalition. The conversations are in the final phase. ÖVP Minister of Economy Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer insists that there will be a low price guarantee in the future. The details of the advance.
Only a few days ago the Federal Competition Authority and E-Control criticized the energy market in Austria. The most important point of criticism: there is too little competition, which leads to high prices.
“It is true that the Federal Competition Authority and the e-control look closely when it comes to the energy market and the price increases in times of crisis. Energie is the basis for our economy and households are delivered safely,” emphasizes the federal minister Hattmannsdorfer.
There are currently negotiations for a novella from the Electricity Economic Act. It was actually planning that this weekend would agree on a draft law. But apparently the agreement is still far away.
“Relief must be noticeable”
It is important for the ÖVP -economic minister Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer that there will be a “low price guarantee” in the future. If the electricity prices on the stock exchange fall, this exemption must also be felt in the households. “This is a matter of fairness – and centrally for trust in the energy market,” said the Minister of Economy.
Moreover, he insists that electricity invoices must be understandable. They must be clearly structured and easy to understand -with simple -read information about the amount, the payment period and the rate changes.
The third point must be a rate comparison directly on the invoice. In the future, every electricity bill will be required to point to the rate calculator of the e-check. In this way, customers can easily find better offers. “This strengthens the competition – and enlightens households sustainably,” Hattmannsdorfer is convinced.
