The developers are leading the way. A third of the 700 engineers are already developing e-drives and this is expected to be 90% by 2030. Reason: The powerful e-drives are now being developed in Steyr: rotor, stator and power electronics, plus high voltage storage and the necessary heat management.

The 51-year-old speaks of an “important and radical step” that was taken this year: “No one knows how long the combustion engine will be there.
