The new high-speed train company will start operations in Spain on the Madrid-Barcelona route on November 25
Iryo’s high-speed trains begin to circulate in Spain. The company went on sale this Wednesday for the following destinations starting in 2023. The first opening is the Madrid-Barcelona route, which will operate with four daily routes from November 25.
But from that moment on, the rail operator opens new destinations. Next up is Valencia (with a stop in Cuenca), where trains arrive on December 16. And in the first quarter of 2023, the routes to Seville, Malaga, Antequera and Cordoba will open. A little later, in June, the trains arrive in Alicante and Albacete.
For all of them, the operator already offers you the possibility to get tickets from its website, with different prices depending on the date and time, but with options from 18 euros each way. In a statement, Iryo defends that it is the only operator (the Renfe and Ouigo trains are already running) that offers flexible tickets that allow changes without losing money. In this way, the company will compete not only on price, but also on flexibility, avoiding the restrictive rates that existed until now.
Iryo’s trains will offer a variety of onboard menus prepared at the time it makes its own Haizea brand. The fleet consists of 20 electric trains with an interior divided into four fares that vary in price and conditions.
The other new operator, Ouigo, has been operating between Madrid and Barcelona for a year and a half and opened the Madrid-Valencia route two weeks ago. The aim is to include Alicante (with a stop in Albacete), Seville and Malaga (with a stop in Córdoba) in its portfolio by 2023. the opening to Seville in 2023.
