No crisis – Voestalpine celebrates record sales in first half

Date:

Voestalpine had already announced that the result for the financial year 2022/23 would be higher than initially assumed. With the announcement of the figures for the first half of the year, the steel and technology group now underlines how crisis-resistant it is: the company operating from Linz increased its turnover to 9.3 billion euros and profit after tax to 715 million.

“Demand for our high-quality products has been high in almost all market segments over the past six months,” says Herbert Eibensteiner, CEO of voestalpine. This is also reflected in the figures for the first half of the 2022/23 financial year: turnover rose to 9.3 billion euros and profit after tax to 715 million euros. Profits alone were 229 million higher than in the first half of 2021/22.

High demand from the energy sector, logistics and aviation
The main driving forces behind the activities of the steel and technology group in Linz (Upper Austria) were the energy sector, logistics and aviation. The demand for aircraft for regional air traffic is increasing here. After the corona pandemic and the major uncertainties in aviation, there is a huge amount of catching up to do.

The prospects? Eibensteiner speaks of a “trending negative climate”, and emphasizes that for the second half of the financial year “economic researchers predict a further, significant cooling of the economy”. But: “With our global positioning and our sector diversification, we are as prepared as possible.”

Increase in turnover also at FACC
Speaking of aviation, FACC also benefited from the upturn in the sector. After three quarters of the 2022 financial year, the aircraft supplier from the Innviertel region was pleased with an increase in turnover – to a total of 419.6 million euros. In 2024, no later than 2025, the turnover from the pre-Corona period must be achieved.
