KV Negotiations – Salary Strike: Can My Boss Fire Me?

This year’s collective labor agreement negotiations have so far been conducted under stricter conditions. High inflation combined with sometimes extremely good business activities could mean that workers’ willingness to strike could be higher than normal. It was just averted with the metallers. Today, negotiations between employers and employees in the retail sector are entering the next round. If that doesn’t work, strikes are threatened. The social professions also threaten with measures. While the agreement has relieved metal workers, some other professions have only just entered the fall wage round – with an open result. ÖGB employment law expert Martin Müller knows what rights employees have in legitimate “industrial disputes” and under what conditions layoffs can fall.
