It was a last attempt to prevent the announced strike – but it failed. On Sunday evening at 10 p.m., the Austrian beer brewers will stop their work. In the afternoon’s round of negotiations, no agreement was reached in the collective labor agreement negotiations.
The brewing industry had already announced warning strikes on Saturday, but was still willing to talk to avert the 24-hour strike. Representatives of employers and employees met again on Sunday afternoon for negotiations. According to the broadcast, employee representatives Bianca Reiter (PRO-GE) and Bernhard Hirnschrodt (GPA) said that the employee representatives “expected an offer that would mean sustainable real wage growth for the employees.”
In the end, no agreement was reached. Just before 6 p.m. it was clear: the talks had failed, there was a strike. For employees in shifts, the start is on Sunday at 10 p.m. For everyone else, the strike starts on Monday.
