The unions reached a final agreement on Wednesday on the payment of the productivity pay
The public participation company that manages Spanish airports (Aena) and the unions reached a final agreement on the payment of productivity wages on Wednesday. This pact means the cancellation of the strike that threatened tens of thousands of travelers this Christmas. The announced strikes (which were almost total, as they lasted 16 hours) would begin on the 22nd and would be repeated on the 26th, 30th, 5th and 8th. In addition, on the 31st there were to be a day of total mobilization (24 hours). Finally, the agreement brings calm to the aerodromes, which will operate normally to relieve passengers, at one of the busiest times of the year.
The unions demanded payment of a productivity surcharge that was no longer paid during the pandemic due to the brutal drop in air traffic. “Now we are returning to historical highs and it is an employee’s right to perceive this concept,” union sources argued.
