Opposition to Microsoft’s billion-dollar takeover of Activision Blizzard is growing. The EU will soon send the US software company a list of concerns, an insider said Monday. The competition authorities want to decide before April 11 whether to approve the $69 billion deal.
The EU declined to comment on the matter. Microsoft stressed that it wants to discuss potential concerns with authorities and stay with the acquisition. According to previous statements from insiders, the company is ready to make concessions.
The deal makes Microsoft the third-largest supplier
About a year ago, Microsoft announced it would buy Activision Blizzard, makers of video games like Call of Duty and Candy Crush, to take on rivals like Sony. The group would become the third largest supplier in this area.
In addition to the EU, the US antitrust authorities also fear competition being affected. Gamers are also taking to the barricades and – as reported by krone.at – have filed a lawsuit in the US.
