The mayor of the tourist hotspot Hallstatt sees no point in the Venetian model where every visitor has to buy an entrance ticket. But the politics of the small town is certainly not standing still: you can read here what steps will follow and what the previous measures have achieved.
There were riots in Venice on Wednesday. As the ‘Krone’ reported, several hundred activists had protested – not always peacefully – against the newly introduced rules for entrance tickets, distributed false access codes, convinced tourists not to have their access codes checked, and even blocked the trams in Mestre, the Tried . to block the mainland portion of the world famous lagoon city. The main point of criticism: the city would become an adventure park, and residents would also have to deal with constant access controls in their place of residence.
Not an option for Hallstatt
All this does not have to worry the residents of Hallstatt for the time being, because Mayor Alexander Scheutz (SPÖ) is against an entrance fee for the jewel of the Salzkammergut. There are several reasons for this:
