The full-time workforce has been reduced to approximately 1,300 active employees, including less than 550 engineers
Twitter has lost 80 percent of its employees since the arrival of new CEO Elon Musk, due to his new company policies and the massive layoffs that occurred during the company’s first weeks at the helm.
Internal company data says Twitter’s full-time workforce has shrunk to about 1,300 active employees, including fewer than 550 engineers.
Similarly, as reported by CNBC, Musk is said to have authorized the transfer of about 130 employees of other companies he owns, such as Tesla, SpaceX, and The Boring Co., to Twitter.
Internal company records show that some 1,400 former Twitter employees no longer work for the company, but are still paid. Many of them announced their departure after new CEO Elon Musk formalized hundreds of layoffs and issued an ultimatum to work “extremely hard” or leave the company.
Before the businessman’s arrival, after acquiring the social networking company in 2022 for $44,000 million, Twitter had 7,500 employees. In early November, Musk began a policy of mass layoffs that has led to lawsuits from former employees.
