New records in 2022 – Red Bull scraps the 10 billion euro limit


The Austrian beverage giant sold 11.582 billion cans in 2022. In addition, there are records in turnover and sales. Major investments in the US will follow in the future.

In 2022, the energy drink manufacturer Red Bull achieved a record sales, revenue and operating profit in the company’s history. As the company announced on its website, consolidated sales grew by 23.9 percent from 7.816 billion to 9.684 billion euros compared to 2021. Worldwide, 11.582 billion cans of Red Bull were sold last year, an increase of 18.1 percent compared to the also very successful 2021.

The company did not say how high the operating profit was. The group cited the “excellent sales development” in almost all Red Bull markets as the main reason for the positive figures. According to the company, future expansions will focus on the core markets of Western Europe and the US and future markets in the developing world. In addition, the beverages from the Organics division will be rolled out to other markets. As usual at Red Bull, growth is financed from operating cash flow.

US main market
As the business magazine “trend” writes in its new issue, due this Friday, the volume for the planned Red Bull production campus in Concord, North Carolina (USA) is increased by almost 50 percent to $ 1.48 billion. Red Bull North America and RRB, the joint venture with the Vorarlberg fruit juice manufacturer Rauch, are worth more than a billion. According to ‘trend’, the US is by far the beverage giant’s most important market with a Red Bull sales share of more than 45 percent.

Following the death of Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz in October 2022, the group is currently led by a three-person management team. Mateschitz owned 49 percent of Red Bull, which passed to his son Mark Mateschitz after his death. At the end of 2022, the company employed 15,779 people in 175 countries (end of 2021: 13,610 in 172 countries).
