They ended 2022 with a 4.5% increase over the same month of 2021
Deposits from households living in Spain exceeded one trillion euros in December 2022, after an increase of 1.44% compared to November and 4.57% compared to the same month in 2021, according to preliminary data from the Bank of Spain.
It represents the highest level recorded in the historical series published by the Bank of Spain starting in December 1989. In this way, household savings have already experienced 16 consecutive months of increases.
Corporate deposits, for their part, rose by 1.5% this month to reach EUR 317.3 billion. Compared to a year earlier, deposits from non-financial corporations fell by 1.82%.
Deposits from households and businesses living in Spain amounted to 1.320 trillion euros in December, up 1.45% from the previous month and 2.96% from a year ago.
The deposits of all residents of Spain were set at EUR 1.685 billion in the twelfth month of the year, a decrease of 0.06% compared to the previous month and an increase of 1.62% compared to a year earlier .
The amount of deposits held by residents in Spain plus that of those abroad amounted to EUR 1.611 trillion in December, representing a monthly decline of 0.36%, as well as a 0.09% year-on-year decline.
