The Labor Chamber Burgenland took stock of its advisory work and spoke of “a real success”.
In terms of advocacy, there was work to be done in the past year: the Labor Chamber (AK) held more than 52,000 consultations on legal and consumer protection and wage tax.
Inflation after Corona
13.9 million euros were won through interventions or directly in court for the workers. For AK chairman Gerhard Michalitsch, this is “a real success”. After the Corona crisis, inflation has now spread across all areas.
There was an increase in wages and social dumping. AK director Thomas Lehner substantiated this with the example of two waitresses who had been paid under the collective labor agreement for years and were not correctly paid for overtime and holiday allowances.
Juicy delinquent payments
As a result of the AK intervention, one woman received an additional payment of 9,730 euros and the other 10,960 euros. “That’s a lot of money,” says Lehner.
Building supplies
Last year there were about 5,800 consumer protection questions. Many homebuilders have been affected by supply chain problems. Often it also involved insurance, travel or internet fraud. According to consumer protection expert Christian Koisser, increased energy prices were also a major problem.
Advice on income tax
In the previous year, 1.2 million euros was recovered from the Tax and Customs Administration for members via the payroll tax advice. A new campaign will therefore start on March 3.
