Production stopped – The popular chewing gum will soon be discontinued

Date:

The cult chewing gum “Wrigley’s Spearmint” was for a long time available in almost every supermarket in the country, but production is now discontinued. Here are the reasons.

Since 1893, the popular gum sticks of the world’s largest manufacturer William Wrigley Jr. on almost everyone’s lips. Now the end of the mouth freshener has been announced. As the “Rheinische Post” (“RP”) reports, the American manufacturer Mars stopped production in Germany at the end of last year – this also affects sales in Austria.

The food company, which has been producing the chewing gum since 2008, justifies this with “declining developments” and the associated poor sales figures. As the “RP” reports, Mars will likely remove “the complete strip and ministrip gum range” from its portfolio.

Stick chewing gum no longer trendy enough
According to Mars customer service, the chewing gum range now only contains chewing gum dragees. “Unfortunately, we can no longer offer you anything equivalent to the gum sticks.”

The decision to discontinue products will be made by the group’s marketing department, the company said. Track the latest industry trends based on sales figures.
