Austrian Airlines has published details of its offer for a new Collective Labor Agreement (KV) for the airline’s cabin crew. Accordingly, in its most recent round of talks last Tuesday, management offered employees a salary increase averaging 12.3 percent from May and a withdrawal of the remaining portions of the crisis package for all employees.
“We certainly do not conduct collective bargaining through the media,” says Yvonne Heuber of the Vida trade union. The employees will be informed about the offer at the planned working meeting next Tuesday in Schwechat and will be advised on how to proceed. In principle, people are at least willing to talk further. We want to prevent the labor dispute from escalating.
Up to 23 percent more salary for ‘lower income groups’
In a statement, the AUA stressed that it had “reached the financial limit” and proposed a result well above annual inflation. Flight attendants in the lower income groups are even offered an improvement of up to 23 percent. The offer also includes the withdrawal of the remaining points of the crisis package. As part of this, the flight crew had agreed to a pay cut during the corona pandemic.
Further flight cancellations possible
Due to the working meeting of the pilots and flight attendants, the airline is likely to experience further disruptions next Tuesday. Changes to the flight plan are expected, but specific details cannot be given at this time. On Monday there are already disruptions due to a traffic strike in Germany.
