On Monday, 110 flights were canceled due to a work meeting at Austrian Airlines (AUA). Without agreement on salary poker on Maundy Thursday, chaos threatens at Easter.
At Tuesday morning’s AUA working meeting, which led to more than 100 flight cancellations, the salary offer was unanimously rejected, partly because it fails to see why executives should receive bonus payments for 2022. If there is money, the flight crew also wants a good share.
Negotiations must now continue. There is no date yet. However, if no agreement is reached by Maundy Thursday, a union action is planned. The pressure on employers is great. Because there could be strikes and further flight cancellations before Easter.
AUA management: went to the “financial limit”.
The company offered a salary increase of at least ten percent. If you add to this that newcomers earn 2,000 euros gross with retroactive effect from 1 January and that the wage tables for flight attendants have been standardized, the result is an average of twelve percent. The management makes it clear that they have already “reached the financial limit”.
