The concert season has arrived. And with that it says again: concert friends, be vigilant! More and more dubious resale platforms and brutal scammers are cheating fans. The “Krone” explains how to recognize the nasty rip-off and what to do about it.
Counterfeit tickets, high prices, desperate visitors – the problem is huge. According to a study published in the renowned British newspaper The Guardian, the number of concert ticket scams in Britain increased by a whopping 529 percent last year. Concerts from the highest class of top stars such as Harry Styles, Coldplay or Taylor Swift and the major music festivals are particularly affected. Cheated fans lose an average of 127 euros.
The revival of the live music industry after the end of the corona pandemic is also attracting more and more fraudsters in Austria. Via e-mail or via social media such as Facebook, TikTok or Instagram, scammers offer coveted tickets for concerts that have actually been completely sold out for months.
