The winners of the vote – student seeks student: Top 10 company Novomatic

Date:

Together with the Chamber of Commerce and kronehit, the “Krone” has stimulated the talent turbo with the campaign “Student seeks apprentice” and had hundreds of students present their company via video. After the online vote at krone.at, it’s now time for the final: our reporter Sarah Jahn was on site with the ten companies that our readers voted in the top 10. Today she is at Novomatic, where Robin presents his company and internship.

Robin is 19 years old and is in his first year of training as an industrial clerk at Novomatic. With krone.tv reporter Sarah Jahn, he gives us exciting insights into his apprenticeship and his workplace – and explains what an apprenticeship at Novomatic has to offer.

The interns are introduced to all facets of the company
What does Robin find particularly exciting about his apprenticeship? That he can work in many different departments and can therefore ‘rotate’ throughout the company, as he says. A unique opportunity to get to know the different areas of Novomatic – which he says makes it easier to decide which department to choose after the training period, says the 19-year-old in an interview with our reporter in the company’s showroom.

The company presents its latest gaming technologies and welcomes customers and guests to the modern and stylish building, explains Robin. According to the student, the new terminals are being developed and built on site by the production department. And the entire interior design and furnishing are planned and executed by the Interior Design Department right here on site, he adds.

What does a typical working day at Robin look like? His day usually starts at eight o’clock. “I do work, such as office, administration, organizational tasks. For example, writing emails, making telephone calls and coordinating appointments. This applies to both internal and external people,” describes the 19-year-old his current day job during our visit.

However, as mentioned earlier, during the three years of his apprenticeship, Robin looks at the different departments “to get a complete overview of the company structure”. He is “currently in the HR department, will even switch to purchasing next week. But I will also get to know accounting, auditing, logistics and other areas,” adds the 19-year-old, who is visibly proud to work for a company known around the world as Novomatic.

Various training options
His first wow moment at training? He had it right away when he entered the building, he says with a laugh. “I wanted to ask at the reception if I should take off my shoes, because everything is so beautiful here.” According to Robin, the advantages of the students at Novomatic are “mainly the further training opportunities that promote personality development, because that is not the case important for daily professional life, but also easy to implement in private life”.

Moreover, professional advancement is ensured here with many examples. He himself found out about two students who now hold leadership positions. “It just shows me that with a lot of diligence you can get high,” says the 19-year-old, who has ambitious goals. Another big advantage: those who learn a lot are also rewarded – with a “nice bonus” from the company, according to Robin.

Why did he choose an internship and not school? Because many employers today place great importance on “that you already have professional experience, and for me it was just important to pass the Matura”. Matura’s learning path allows him to combine both, “namely professional experience and also Matura, ie what you learn at school,” explains the student.

At Novomatic, students are challenged and encouraged
As for the many development opportunities, the 19-year-old puts particular emphasis on the training courses offered to trainees at Novomatic. “The training courses that I like the most now are mainly the intercultural training courses in English with a native speaker.” The students learn to speak English very well, which is of course important for their daily work, Robin notes. “We also learn a lot about building resilience. What are our resources? How can we use them in everyday work and how can we also use them privately? And what I also really like: that I am challenged and encouraged here”.

What we could clearly see during our visit to Novomatic: Training students is the top priority for the company. Because the students are “our future building blocks so we can survive,” as doctoral student Denise Eisenberger, head of development and learning at Novomatic, emphasizes to reporter Sarah Jahn. The company can train 13 different apprenticeships ranging from commercial to industrial.
