Together with the Chamber of Commerce and kronehit, the “Krone” has stimulated the talent turbo with the campaign “Student seeks apprentice” and had hundreds of students present their company via video. After the online vote at krone.at, it’s now time for the final: Our reporter Sarah Jahn was on site with the ten companies that our readers voted in the top 10. Today she is visiting Siemens, where James presents his company and internship.
James is 22 years old and is in his second year of training as an industrial clerk at Siemens. With krone.tv reporter Sarah Jahn, he gives us exciting insights into his apprenticeship and his work – and explains what an apprenticeship at Siemens has to offer.
As he reveals in an interview, it was the recommendation of friends after graduating from high school that persuaded him to work here. He chose this internship precisely because he was very interested in studying digital commerce at the Vienna University of Applied Sciences. Commercial knowledge and way of thinking are combined with digitization to modernize accounting, i.e. specifically digitize it, he explains. It is precisely this mixing of the two worlds that is “great fun for him,” says James.
As a commercial apprentice, the 22-year-old enjoys flexible work at Siemens, meaning he can start between 6 and 9 am. “I come to work with my laptop, I plug it in and off we go,” says the student. In the end, he applied to Siemens because the topic of sustainability is very important to him, and he remarked: “Okay, look, there are initiatives, there are projects, and now I try to work on it myself from the inside “.
Another exciting initiative at Siemens that James shows our reporter Sarah Jahn is the so-called Work In. What is that? The company is trying to get the employees back from the home office, the student explains. Here you can drink a cup of coffee with colleagues or book meeting rooms and collaborate via the Smartboard. But the Work In also offers a so-called retreat zone, “where there is peace and quiet, where you can also concentrate on your work”, adds James.
What we could clearly see during our visit to Siemens: Siemens, as a large company, has a lot of opportunities when it comes to apprenticeships. We would therefore like to let all interested parties know that the Group is looking forward to your applications!
