Dealers all over Austria are luring people in well before the schools close with hefty discounts to create enough space for the autumn and winter collections. Consumers are happy with this, because the price increase means that many domestic consumers have to save. How high the discounts are depends on various factors. The excess quantities and the behavior of the competition are decisive.
The motto is: now or never. Austrian retailers are trying to sell as many goods as possible in time for the holidays. This is only possible with discounts and promotions. “For the Austrian trade, the summer sale is like advent in the hottest season of the year,” explains Rainer Will, head of the Retail Association. “It drives sales and helps stores optimize inventory levels.” Customers, in turn, benefited from top products at heavily discounted prices and a lively atmosphere in the stores.
