Who will succeed veteran Robert Ottel as CFO? The Supervisory Board of Voestalpine is not yet able to answer this question, after the manager’s surprise no to the contract extension. In addition to the oath of allegiance, the successor has already officially settled for one of the vacant positions.
Due to the surprise departure of Robert Ottel at the end of March 2024, the scheduled meeting of the supervisory board of voestalpine on Tuesday had caused more controversy than the steel and technology group would have liked. After the decisions of the committee led by Wolfgang Eder, at least some peace should return.
Nöbauer follows Rotter
Because: Since Tuesday afternoon, some personal data on the management floor of the company operating from Linz (Upper Austria) has been clarified. The contract of CEO Herbert Eibensteiner has been extended by five years and therefore runs until 2029. Hubert Zajicek and Franz Kainersdorfer also enjoy the confidence for just as long. Also fixed: Reinhard Nöbauer (59) succeeds Franz Rotter, who will retire as head of the High Performance Metals division on 1 April 2024 and will thus transfer to the Executive Board.
First woman on the board
And who will succeed Peter Schwab, who will also leave Voestalpine at the end of March 2024, as head of the Metal Forming Division? An experienced personality from the industry has already been found here. However, the name remains secret for employment law reasons and will only be announced in the course of September. That much is clear: it will be a woman – and therefore the first on the board of directors of Voestalpine.
“We are convinced that we have made the right choice to further expand our position in the automotive, energy and storage technology sectors,” says Eder. The search for a successor to Robert Ottel has only just begun.
