Major effect at AMAG: Gerald Mayer, CEO of the aluminum producer based in Ranshofen since 2019, will resign as chairman at the end of this year. “The time has come for me to make a career change,” says de Mühlviertler, who has also been CFO of the company since 2007.
For his 60th birthday, TGW boss Harald Schröpf is giving himself a change next year, Greiner AG and long-term boss Axel Kühner agreed to an amicable separation – and now AMAG boss Gerald Mayer is also leaving.
De Mühlviertler has been Chief Financial Officer of the aluminum producer since 2007 and also chairman of the board of directors since March 1, 2019. Despite a contract that runs until the end of 2025, he has now asked the supervisory board to terminate his contract prematurely. Reason: Mayer wants to take on new professional challenges.
Chairman of the supervisory board has ‘understanding’
“We regret the step, but at the same time we understand it,” responded AMAG commissioner chairman Herbert Ortner. The search for a successor will begin immediately. Mayer will remain in power until the end of the year. An orderly handover is planned.
