After no agreement was reached in the fourth round of trade collective bargaining, warning strikes have also been held in Tyrol since Thursday. There will also be work stoppages on the upcoming first Christmas shopping Saturday.
There are approximately 50,000 workers in the Tyrolean trade, the majority of whom are women. The warning signs resulting from the failed collective bargaining negotiations are expected to last until Saturday.
Collection for the shopping center
Explosive: On this day, retailers really start their Christmas business. “A demonstration is taking place in front of the Sillpark shopping center in Innsbruck, while some shops are striking inside,” the union said.
“We send a clear signal”
“The employees will do everything they can to get a good salary increase above inflation and a fair collective labor agreement. Now that the warning strikes are taking place, we are sending a clear signal to employers: we will not stop until there is a fair offer on the negotiating table!” emphasizes Philip Pollak, regional secretary of the GPA trade union in Tyrol.
The GPA union has offered a new negotiation date: December 5 or 6.
