Finally agreed! – KV deal: Metal companies are fighting for an increase of 8.6 percent

After eight rounds of negotiations, there has been an increase of 8.6 percent! The unions initially demanded an increase of 10.6 percent. The increase now achieved must be spread socially.

For the first time, the diploma is valid for two years. This creates “planning certainty for companies,” confirms Christian Knill, chairman of the Metal Technology Industry Association, in a press release. In the second year, one percent will be added to the progressive inflation rate, the employers said.

Social graduation
Salaries will be increased retroactively by 10 percent for November, but by a maximum of 400 euros per month. This results in an average increase of 8.6 percent for all those affected.

There were already signs of agreement in the collective labor agreement negotiations for the metal technology industry on Thursday afternoon. The good negotiating atmosphere was praised – after the strikes in recent days. Recently, the PRO-GE and GPA unions demanded a 10.6 percent wage and salary increase.

Negotiations traditionally took place at the Chamber of Commerce in Vienna-Wieden, now in the eighth round of negotiations. After the successful talks with the metal technology industry, further wage negotiations with the other sectors of the metal industry are scheduled for Friday.

Ultimately, they always completed at the same level as their colleagues in metal technology.

Successes and interruptions
On Thursday, the KV also reached an agreement for the security industry, with minimum wages and allowances increasing by 9.2 percent. The nightly allowance will be increased by 37 percent. There are approximately 15,000 people employed in the sector.

No compromise was made during the negotiations for the bicycle couriers. “The offer of 2.5 percent from employers is a slap in the face to employees,” said the Vida union. The collective labor agreement negotiations were paused until January 11, 2024.
