Drone search – Missing: Man “flee” to Heuriger after accident

Date:

A 37-year-old left his car at the scene of the accident in Krems (Lower Austria) to charge his batteries. Police eventually found him hours later in front of a Heurigen restaurant. The alcohol test was positive.

After the horrors there must have been a little reassurance: when the emergency services were alerted to an accident on the B 37 in Krems, they were confronted with an unusual sight.

Report submitted
A blocked car was “parked” at a rather oblique angle on a guardrail along the Kremser Expressway at the Mautern exit. However, no trace of the driver of the vehicle could be found. Relatives reported the incident to the police around 1:30 am.

Intensive search
The fire brigade therefore initially concentrated on recovering the car. For this purpose, additional comrades and an exchange vehicle were requested from Krems. At the same time, an extensive search for people on the ground and from the air began. The fire brigade used a drone to locate the missing person.

Meanwhile, a swarm of searchers found the first clue in an adjacent forest: a coat that had apparently been missing for a long time.

Huge traffic jam in early morning traffic
But there was no trace of the 37-year-old driver from the St. Pölten district. Shortly before four in the morning, everything was clear: the fugitive was picked up by police officers in front of a Heurigen bar, not far from the scene of the accident. An alcohol test on the 37-year-old was positive. The man was reported by the Krems district administration.

A traffic jam lasting an hour and a half after an accident also strained the nerves of all motorists in the early morning traffic on the Danube bank near Stockerau on Thursday.
