The mortgage lender for the purchase of housing in the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV) returned to its positive path in August with a year-on-year increase of 18.3%, after a decrease of 5.3% in July.
According to data published Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) in the CAV as a whole, 1,921 mortgages were signed in August worth 277 million euros, bringing the average amount of each mortgage to around 144,200 euros.
A total of 2,380 mortgages were granted in August in the Basque Country, of which 19 were for the purchase of rural properties, 1,921 for housing, 24 plots of land and 416 for other types of urban real estate such as offices, garages and storage rooms.
Furthermore, according to the INE, 1,548 mortgages were canceled in the CAV in August.
