The factory of car supplier Magna in Graz will be “temporarily” converted from a two-shift operation to a one-shift operation. A spokesperson for Magna confirmed to the APA that employees were informed about this on Friday.
According to the Kleine Zeitung, around 450 employees are affected by the “personnel adjustment” and are now worried about their jobs – shortly before Christmas. There is no official confirmation of this song from Magna. The company also did not provide a specific duration for this measure.
Electric car brand Fisker is reducing orders
Magna’s spokesperson did not provide any information on whether the change in the affected production site was related to lower production of the Fisker brand, as reported by the newspaper. The electric car start-up announced in early December that it would reduce production of its Ocean model at Magna in Graz to around 10,000 cars for strategic reasons. The American company originally wanted to have 20,000 to 23,000 cars produced in Graz.
BMW/Toyota has also only had production in Graz for less than a year, Jaguar will soon stop production and new large orders are currently not in sight. Only production of the Mercedes G (pictured above) is currently still flourishing.
