Implementation is in full swing at the bankrupt Signa. Private jet and the Chrysler Building, a skyscraper in Manhattan (New York), are about to be sold. And the contract with former Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer (SPÖ) is terminated.
On Tuesday, Signa restructuring manager Christof Stapf presented an initial report. According to this, processing is in full swing. So far, 43 creditors have registered claims for a total amount of 1.13 billion euros. The deadline ends on January 15.
Signa wants to sell media shares
Real estate juggler René Benko has pledged three million euros to finance the process. In addition, the sale or saving of unnecessary parts continues. Not only were most of the holding company’s employees terminated, but also the lease agreements in Palais Ferstl and Harrach. Also available are one of two private jets and the Chrysler Building in New York, which was purchased in 2019 for a reported 150 million euros. You also want to break away from the media pack.
For the restructuring to be successful, Stapf would like to establish a steering committee with the ten to fifteen largest creditors (mainly domestic banks and insurance companies) to provide support. 53 business cases from the past will also be reopened and checked for possible reversal.
Gusenbauer also resigns from Strabag’s mandate
A first somersault is now also taking place in the Signa advisory council: ex-chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer (he is said to have received consultancy fees of up to seven million euros) must resign his seat. In addition, the former SPÖ boss will resign from his mandate on Strabag’s supervisory board at the end of this year.
