Fronius has put the supply problems for inverters for photovoltaic systems behind it, but now demand is starting to falter! The result: the family business from Pettenbach (Upper Austria) reduced production. 1,000 employees are affected by the measure.
Fronius has everything in place to expand electricity production with photovoltaic systems, but the market is currently weakening. This also leaves its mark on the family business from Pettenbach. Countermeasures are being taken with internal short-time work and a reduction in shifts at the Sattledt site, and inverter production is being scaled back.
The measure, which could last up to a year, affects approximately 1,000 employees. In addition, 100 temporary workers were dismissed. The company says there will be no layoffs among permanent staff.
Expansion at the American location postponed
To increase the occupancy rate in Austria, the American plans were also postponed. Fronius already has a research and development department including repair service in Portage near Chicago. A small production of inverters is also planned here. However, its implementation will now have to wait until 2025.
