Tesla must again ‘recall’ millions of cars. This time it concerns more than one and a half million vehicles in China. According to a statement from the country’s responsible regulatory agency, there are problems with the driver assistance system and with closing the door in some vehicles.
The defects could lead to safety risks while driving and increase the risk of a vehicle collision, the authority warned and asked drivers to drive carefully.
Specifically affected are 1.61 million imported Model S, Model
Additionally, a door lock control issue is affecting just over 7,500 imported Model S and Model X vehicles produced between October 26, 2022 and November 16, 2023.
The recalled cars are now receiving a software update. Because this can be installed ‘over the air’ at Tesla, no customer has to go to the workshop for this.
In December, Tesla recalled around two million cars in the US – also because of problems with the driver assistant for automated driving.
China is an important market for Tesla with a growing number of customers. The American company also has a large production plant in Shanghai, where 900,000 vehicles were produced last year.
