Brewing beer is a creative and culinary process. But the logistical effort required until the golden barley juice ends up in the barrel or bottle and ultimately in the consumer’s glass is quite something. The largest private brewery in Lower Austria is therefore upgrading with many millions of euros. What the country’s first ‘beer pipeline’ should look like and why thirsty robber barons can’t tap into it so easily.
The fact that beer is called “oil” in the Scandinavian countries is not just because it decreases in value, like other things. Rather, the word comes from prehistoric Germanic aluminum from which British beer is also derived. It is therefore no surprise that beer in the Waldviertel will soon flow through its own pipeline.
